The Supreme Court of Ohio adopted the Ohio Rules of Professional Conduct Aug. 1, 2006, effective Feb. 1, 2007. These rules supersede the Ohio Code of Professional Responsibility, adopted Oct. 5, 1970 and as amended throughout the intervening years.
The Supreme Court of Ohio adopted the Ohio Code of Judicial Conduct, effective March 1, 2009. These rules supersede the Ohio Code of Judicial Conduct which was effective Dec. 20, 1973 and as amended throughout the intervening years. Advisory Opinions numbered 1986 through 2006 provide advice for attorneys and judges as to the application of the Ohio Code of Professional Responsibility, the Ohio Code of Judicial Conduct, the Supreme Court Rules for the Government of the Bar, the Supreme Court Rules for the Government of the Judiciary, and provide advice for judges and judicial employees as to Ohio Ethics Law. Advisory Opinions numbered 2007 and forward provide advice for attorneys and judges as to the application of the Ohio Rules of Professional Conduct, the Ohio Code of Judicial Conduct, the Supreme Court Rules for the Government of the Bar, the Supreme Court Rules for the Government of the Judiciary, and provide advice for judges and judicial employees as to Ohio Ethics Law. As to judicial issues, advisory opinions numbered 2009 and forward provide advice as to the application of the Code of Judicial Conduct, effective March 1, 2009.
